Forest management by State Forests is carried out on the basis of 10-year forest organization plan drawn up for forest districts. They are implemented by specialised forest services, such as Forest Organization Office and Forest Geodesy. The plans are approved by Environment Minister after consultations with the public have taken place.
Preparation of the plan is always preceded by in-depth inventorying and forest assessment. Foresters evaluate on features such as structure, built, age, species composition, health state, soil and settlement conditions etc. Planned actions include aims of forest management and the role forest play in the managed district.
